Some have referred to 1st Peter as the epistle of living hope because it signifies the lively hope we have in Christ. Although Peter uses the same description of the recipients as James did in his epistle; the context of the epistle clearly indicates that the audience consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
Peter sought to give encouragement by telling his readers to remember the hope and reward of Christ. He also exhorted them to continue in courage, purity, and faithfulness to Christ.
