Psalms

The Psalms were songs, or hymns, Israel used in worshipping the Lord. They were written to be sung, as a matter of fact, the word Psalm means, A song of praise. The Hebrews sang songs in the temple services until the Babylonian captivity. After their return from exile, the songs were sung in the synagogues and later in the temple services. 

The collection of these 150 Psalms is divided into 5 books: 

  • Book 1 Psalms 1-41 
  • Book 2, Psalms 42-72
  • Book 3, Psalms 73-89
  • Book 4, Psalms 90-106
  • Book 5, Psalms 107-150
